Immigrants in our own land

THEME: The theme of the poem was to be a successful person and not throw it away like other people and that to follow your dreams and to never give up because if you keep on pushing yourself then one day you will complete your goal.

MOOD: The mood of the poem was a little sad and little bit of inspirational because in the poem he was saying that young ones will become gangsters and also that people will stay on their side of their race like poor white people with poor white people and chicanos with chicanos. Also it's inspirational because he was saying that to not be one of those people that will throw away their dreams and have their life messed up but to become a great person with a dream and that will be a successful person in life.

TONE: The tone of the poem was amused and appreciative because after reading the person I learn something about

DEVICES: I don't know what he use

My first impression of the poem was that I was confused because in the beginning I didn't know what it was about but then I read it the second time and then I knew what he met and what he is trying to say was that many people come to leave their land to follow their dreams and that many fail and by that they go to jail and their dream life is thrown away in the trash.

ESSAY

The things we do right now influence the future because we are the next generation that would change on how the world is right now because there is a lot of thing that's going on right for example new diseases coming to the U.S and many people don't know how to cure it. So that's where we step in and become the first ones to cure that diseases because many people are learning about that type of stuff and so they want find a cure for every single disease in the world and so they are paying attention in school and not messing around. For example right now I am learning different formulas in my pre-cal class and so I was thinking how is that going to help me in like and make me a successful person in life. So I started to think about all these stuff and how it would help me and I don't even like math, but I'm doing so well in that class. Also many people like to do their own things and that is good because maybe in the future they might become a successful business person on what their good at and not just throwing away all their knowledge down the drain. For example on "Self Reliance" Emerson was saying that to be yourself and to not become a follower and that to trust on your instincts because if you do and not become a follower and then you will go somewhere in life. Also for example on the story "Sound of Thunder" the whole meaning of it was that little things can make a big change and what can happen with all of us because what ever we do right now can become helpful for someone in the future.

I'M SELF-RELIANT

So I finished reading On Self-Reliance and at first when I saw how long it was I thought I wasn't going to be interesting because I don't really like reading. Until when I started to read more and more it started to get interesting so then I kept on reading it. Some of the paragraphs On Self-Reliance was a bit confusing and I didn't get on what he met. So if anyone have free time I recommend you to read On Self-Reliance by Emerson.

AUTHOR IN PROGRESS

So on Thursday our class had a test on about Emerson's essay and when I read the questions I thought it was going to be difficult and thought I wasn't going to be able to finish it. Then I started to remember a little bit about and so I started to answer the questions and when I'm almost finishing answering all the questions I realized that the questions were easy to answer and I was worrying for nothing. So I think that I did well on the Emerson writing and I could've probably write more if I had the time and if I read the whole Emerson's essay.

LETTER TO A MENTOR DRAFT 1

So I have a big question and it was that why are there 365 days in a year? So I have to find experts on why there are 365 days in a year and that expert is (MENTORS NAME)

Dear (MENTORS NAME) ,
I have a big question and i was thinking about for quite some time and it's that why are ther 365 days in a year? This is my big question because why can't there be more days and months, if there were more months what would it be called? Also would there be different holidays added if we did have more days in a year? Why is there a leap year? Also I think other people think that too and so if there were more days would people think the year would be longer and for me 365 days is pretty long but when u have school it makes it go by quick. So that's my big question to you.

Sincerely,
Junior Sanchez

SOMETIMES MY MIND

One day when i was watching t.v I spaced out all of a sudden and so I was thinking on how it feels to be an animal like a dog or a cat. Because they have to walk with there 4 legs and can't talk and also they have a bunch of fur so when its hot they got to cool down. So if i was to be a animal i would be a dog. If you guys were to be a animal what animal would you guys be?

"The Pedestrian" First Impression

At the beginning of the story "The Pedestrian" the background of the story was peaceful and calming. But when we were going further to the story it started to change and was using dark meaning word like black phantom and graveyard. So as we were reading more and more it started to get more interesting and  so I can't wait to finish reading the rest of the story.

Vocab #3

MY AERIES

When I got my essay back I was scared on what grade I was going to get, because at first I thought i was going to get a C or D, but when I saw it it showed a B-. I got excited that I got a B- because I did pretty good on my essay but I could've done better. In Dr. Preston's class we  did our journals, vocab definitions, and our blogs so I think I would give myself a C- or a C because I'm missing a lot of stuffs in my blog and I'm trying to get caught up with everyone else because i don't want to be behind with a ton of homework.

The Big Question

Why are there only 365 days in a year?

Ancient Stories

  • The language that was used is different than the one we use today because today's language we use short words like lol or like u instead of you and others more.
  • It is important that the story should be written word by word because if not then there would be different versions of the story and no one will which one is the real story
